Hey y'all,
Long time no write. Once again.
I have been living in Denver for about a month now and enjoying the big city. Granted, this is not where we would like to end up long term, but it is working out currently for us. I am living with Maddie Stephens from Fort Lewis who played soccer for the fort. We live in a little apartment close to downtown which makes things nice; however, I work in south Denver and go to school in northwest Denver, so it makes things interesting driving back and forth everyday to work and back. I put on the miles and recently my car decided that the alternator needed maintenance, so Balto (my car's name) and I came to a stop right along the highway one day last week. Dave came and picked me up and took me to work that day. We were 2 people and 1 car for a while, until he was fixed (not cheap!). So other than being extremely busy with work, crossfit, and school, my free time doesn't exist much. But I am enjoying what I am doing and wouldn't give up any of it.
So to go back to this church that we have been trying out a few times...It is AWESomE!!
Check it out! So uplifting and HUGE...the first service we went to I think there were close to 4,000 people there in one service. It was like a concert when we walked in, but we left feeling like we got a great start to the week. It is very layed back and welcoming new people in. I think that is why the services are so big and why people keep coming back.
We started in the middle of this sermon series called Men and Marriage. It was perfect for Dave and I to jump right in with it, because every single sermon speaks to us in some way. God is so good and reveals more and more to me every day with the more and more I am engulfed in the Bible and His word. I encourage you to check out some of the sermons they have posted online. Your minds will be blown away with how much it pertains to you and your life.
I have been listening to the sermons on my ipod to and from work and it is amazing in the fact that I feel like the pastors are in the car talking directly to me, saying hey Katie, listen up!! I have learned so much (I can't put words into it) about Jesus Christ and my relationship with Him in the past couple weeks. I have finally listened to God and do what He wants of me- to use my talents and skills to help others and make the best out of every situation.
It is easy living life in your comfort zone and not creating a lot of change. It is hard and a challenge to step outside of your comfort box and take a "risk". Jump out there and invite someone to church with you or ask someone about their faith and where they stand, or show someone that you care about them even when others don't because this is how God lives and the least we can do is strive to live it every single day! What an amazing challenge we can tackle- that it might bring about new ideals and ways to grow in our walk with the Holy one.
So I encourage each and every one of you to make a point to start reading the Bible. Keep it by your bedside so that you are reminded of God's promise to us. Step out of your comfort area and take a risk. You gotta start somewhere and now is the best time of any. What are you living for in this life?
GIG~
